Deputies: Geneseo man caught in the act of burglarizing Avon home

AVOND, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Geneseo man is accused of leaving the scene of a crash and breaking into a home.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Dale Vanskiver was caught in the act.

Deputies say he first drove his car through a fence on Papermill Road in Avon and left the scene.

Vanskiver is then accused of breaking a rear window to get into a Geneseo home and was taking things when deputies found him inside. Deputies say he also had crack cocaine on him when he was arrested.

Vanskiver was charged with felony second degree burglary, two counts of fourth degree criminal mischief, petit larceny, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations.

He’s being held without bail.
