Deputies: Wyoming County man injures sergeant during arrest over domestic incident

WETHERSFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — A sergeant with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was injured during an arrest last week.

Deputies say they were investigating 29-year-old Wyatt Penfold after a domestic incident that happened on Pee Dee Road in the Town of Wethersfield on Thursday, Dec. 16, but there was a struggle getting him to cooperate when they were trying to arrest him in his Town of Orangeville home.

The sheriff’s office said Penfold fought with deputies and had to be tased.

Penfold was charged with felony third degree criminal mischief and third degree attempted assault for the incident deputies were originally responding to.

Deputies say on Tuesday, Penfold was arrested again inside the Wyoming County Jail and charged with felony second degree assault and resisting arrest for the clash with deputies.

He was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash, $40,000.00 bond, or $75,000.00 partially secured bond.
