ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)—— Summer means mosquito season! Have you heard your blood type could make mosquitoes more attracted to you? News10NBC’s Nikki Rudd has a fact check!

We do what we can to keep them away, but some of us just always seem to get bit by mosquitoes! It’s like they’re attracted to us! If that’s you, what’s your blood type?

According to several studies, mosquitoes are more attracted to people with type O blood! This is no joke. The National Institutes of Health actually did a study on it. It found mosquitoes landed on people with type O blood at a significantly higher rate. Their second choice? Type A blood.

Keep in mind there are a bunch of other factors that go into this. Scientists say mosquitoes are attracted to people with higher body temperatures, those who are exercising, and pregnant women! That’s just great, right ladies?

The color of clothes you’re wearing can also play a role. Wearing black, dark blue or red could make you a mosquito magnet! One study even found drinking a beer could make you more tasty to mosquitoes.

If you heard eating bananas will attract mosquitoes and taking vitamin B-12 will repel them, that is false. Scientists say those are old wives’ tales!
