ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s officially game day for the Buffalo Bills.

The team is in Detroit for their first preseason game Friday night.we’re finally gonna get our first look at the 2021 Buffalo Bills, but of course, with it being preseason, it’ll be a lot of minutes for fringe players and rookies.

Tonight’s game against the Lions is the Bills’ first of three preseason games before the start of the regular season and their first preseason game since 2019.

Some starters will get rest, like Josh Allen, but Sean McDermott said other starters will see some minutes on an individual basis.

With one less game than a typical preseason and roster cuts coming next week, here’s how you can expect McDermott to manage playing time.

"I think that’s always a challenge as a coach," McDermott said. "How do you make sure you have the right number of players, the right players inside that number come cut down time and yet also getting your guys who are gonna play ready for the opener? So it’s a balance. I can tell you that. We go back and forth."

It should also be a good chance to see what Mitch Trubisky and Jake Fromm can do in this offense.
