ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A pleasant start to our Sunday will give way to a few showers and storms late this morning and into the afternoon hours today.

A washout is not expected, and the best chance for a shower or storm will come between 10am and 2pm. A cold front will swing through during that time and bring us the opportunity for some wet weather, but on the backside of this front there will still be a chance for a shower or storm. Temperatures will make their way back into the mid and low 70s for afternoon highs today.

After this front swings through, sunshine is expected for Monday and Tuesday. Starting Tuesday, we will begin to warm up as highs reach the upper 70s and then the mid and upper 80s for Wednesday and Thursday.

As we move into Wednesday and Thursday of this week, we will also see another opportunity for showers and storms. A warm front will lift through on Wednesday with a chance for a thunderstorm in the afternoon, but a better chance for rain will come on Thursday as another cold front swings through. We will be monitoring Thursday afternoon for a chance for strong storms to roll through as thunderstorm energy looks plentiful across our region.

This will be something to watch as we move through the next few days, and by the looks of it all right now it looks like strong gusty winds and hail will be our main focus with these storms. Finer details, like timing, need to be ironed out over the next couple of days as no alert has been issued yet. Behind this cold front, things will once again turn cooler with highs back in the low 70s for next weekend.
