ROCHESTER, N.Y (WHEC) – It’s another wonderful start to our day with plenty of sun and warm temperatures.

Things this afternoon will remain hot and a bit humid as dew points make their way into the upper 60s to near 70. Air temperatures this afternoon will reach the 90 degree mark, and with the combination of heat and humidity it will feel like the mid 90s at times through the afternoon.

If you’re not a big fan of the heat there is relief on the way, and it will come with a cold front that will bring showers and storms across our region this afternoon. Clouds will begin to bubble toward the middle of the day before a few isolated showers and rumbles of thunder pop after 1 in the afternoon. Storm chances continue before the greatest opportunity to see a shower or storm between 4 and 8 today.

Shower and storm chances will continue into tonight, but we will dry out by the morning commute on Monday. Showers and storms this afternoon are not expected to be severe, but they could bring localized heavy rain, limiting visibility on area roadways and causing some pooling and ponding. So, heads up this afternoon for a shower or storm but a washout is not expected.

After this cold front swings through, relief from the heat is on the way. Temperatures early this week will be in the mid 70s before jumping back toward the mid 80s on Thursday. Overall this week, we are expecting a rather pleasant week. A lot of sunshine is expected with limited rain chances locally.

We will watch late Wednesday for a shower or two, as well as Friday evening, but overall dry and comfortable weather is expected!
