First Alert Forecast: Clouds increase Sunday with rain for Monday
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Another cool and comfortable start this morning, but once again we will warm up.
Temperatures this afternoon will reach the mid and upper 80s. Also this morning, we are dealing with abundant sunshine but unfortunately we will not see the sun throughout the entire day. Clouds are expected to increase this afternoon with cloudy skies this evening.
Although not the best sky conditions today, this is good news as this increase in cloud cover will be ahead of our awaited opportunity for beneficial rain on Monday. An isolated shower or two is possible this evening and early tonight, but a better chance for rain comes after midnight and during the morning commute Monday.
Rain early tomorrow morning will be heavy at times. Pooling and ponding on roadways is possible, as well as limited visibility. Tomorrow morning, we will need the umbrellas, rain coats, and even the rain boots. However, tomorrow is not a complete washout.
After widespread rain tomorrow morning, things begin to break in the afternoon. We will transition over to isolated and scattered showers Monday afternoon before we dry out Monday night.
Rainfall totals by Tuesday morning could range widely across our region. Right now, we are expecting anywhere from 0.5" to 1" of rain, but localized areas in the most persistent and heaviest of rain could see around 2" of rain. Like mentioned above, no flooding is expected, but we will monitor these areas for any water rises.
Then, after our rain tomorrow the next weather story will be the consistent heat as temperatures next week will likely be in the mid and upper 80s to near 90. It will also turn a bit humid with dew points persistently in the mid 60s. This means it may feel a little warmer outside through the week so stay hydrated and keep the A/C on!
