ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A weak trough and cold front are passing over Western New York today and this evening.

The atmosphere still has very low amounts of humidity, so any scattered showers were just enough to “settle the dust”. This front will have very little, if any, impact on the temperature for this evening.

In fact, the front will move back north of Rochester Thursday and Friday. This will allow more heat and humidity to flow into the area for the next 48 hours.

Tonight we cannot rule out a brief shower, otherwise, look for just patchy clouds. The low temperature will be in the middle 50s.

Thursday we can look forward to mostly sunny skies. It will be noticeably warmer with a high temperature near 85 degrees.

Friday the heat keeps coming and with increasing amounts of humidity, the high temperature will push 90 degrees. Most of the day will be dry, but there is the chance of a few showers or a thunderstorm Friday night with a lingering shower possible during early Saturday morning. However, we should see more sunshine returning on Saturday afternoon. The remainder of the day should be more comfortable with the temperature lowering to near 80 degrees.

The remainder of the holiday weekend appears to be the kind of weather you would like for the Fourth of July. Sunday and Monday should feature plenty of sunshine and both days will have a high temperature in the low to mid-80s.
