First Alert Weather: A Fall feel to Friday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Thursday morning’s heavy rain event is done but left us with impressive rainfall amounts, especially for a non-tropical system.

Most of the area came in with 1-2" of rain from Thursday night through noon Friday. Now we await the arrival of cooler air for the end of the week. We’ll see a partly cloudy to mainly clear sky overnight, with much drier air working in. Temperatures will fall toward 50° by Friday morning and top out in the mid-60s with a bit of a breeze at times. We’ll see some sun, along with a few brief afternoon showers compliments of Lake Erie (yes, lake effect rain showers).

The weekend: A fast-moving cold front will bring a few showers on Saturday, primarily during the afternoon and evening hours, but it’ll be far from a washout. Sunday looks mainly dry, with an increasing chance for showers by late evening/overnight. Saturday will top out in the lower 70s, with mid-60s on Sunday following the cold front.

Earl next week will feature the chance for a few passing showers Monday and Tuesday, followed by a lovely stretch of dry and sunny weather mid to late week. Next week will have a distinctly fall feel to it, with highs in the 60s much of the week.
