First Alert Weather: Hot air, and a few weekend storms

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As we welcome in the weekend, we say goodbye (for now) to the warm and comfortable air.

This weekend will be turning hot, with highs on Saturday near 90, and into the 90s on Sunday. No records are expected, but we could add a few more days in the 90s to our seasonal tally. Saturday will be beautiful with sunshine and dry weather, along with comfortable humidity levels.

Dew points rise a bit on Sunday, so it’ll be a little stickier, but not the tropical air we had with our last bout of heat. The weekend should be dry until Sunday afternoon when an approaching cold front will set off scattered showers and a few storms. A storm or two could produce gusty winds, but the threat of severe weather isn’t overly impressive.

We’re GREEN on the First Alert Threat Tracker through the weekend, but Sunday’s storms are still worth keeping an eye on.

The big heat is washed away early next week, with highs in the 70s on Monday and Tuesday, before we start to warm things up again toward the middle and end of next week.
