ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A cold front moved across Western New York last night and that had a direct impact on the hot weather.

As a result, the temperature has dropped significantly compared to yesterday’s steamy weather. Instead of temperature readings in the 90s, the mercury has returned to more typical mid-summer conditions. However, even though the air conditioner is not working as hard right now, the high heat will make a return later this weekend.

In the early evening, there is a slight chance of an isolated shower, otherwise, skies will clear overnight. It will still be muggy with the low temperature in the upper 60s. Friday will feature mostly sunny skies, but there is just a small chance of an isolated thundershower in the afternoon. The high temperature will reach the upper 80s. The heat and humidity will continue to build for the weekend.

Saturday will bring more sunshine and a high temperature near 90 degrees. Sunday there is a better chance of a few showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening. However, before the rain arrives, you can expect a temperature in the low 90s with a significant amount of humidity which will make it feel tropical for the end of the weekend.

Once again this will not be a heat wave as cooler and more comfortable weather returns on Monday and Tuesday.
