ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The joke was on us this April Fools’ Day, with temperatures in the 30s, a brisk wind and off and on snow, graupel and sleet.

The good news? Our weather will get drastically better for April 2! High pressure builds in overnight, putting an end to any snow showers, and allowing the winds to die down. The sky will also clear, which will set the stage for a much prettier Saturday. In fact, we should see a mostly sunny sky on Saturday, with high clouds thickening during the afternoon. Temperatures will make their way back into the upper 40s. This is still slightly cooler than average, but it’ll be a lovely day. Our next fast-moving clipper will move in by Saturday night, bringing a return to a few snow showers.

These will linger into Sunday, with off and on rain and wet snow showers, perhaps some graupel, but no accumulation. Temperatures will be a bit cooler Sunday, topping out in the lower half of the 40s.

Overall, we’ll see a slight warming trend next week, with highs slowly climbing into the lower and mid-50s by Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will have to deal with some wet weather, as some rain returns on Wednesday and Thursday. We’re still unable to latch onto any prolonged or impressive spring warmth, though.

At this early vantage point, it looks like we’ll be falling back into the 40s by next weekend, with the chance for a few more wet snow showers flying through the air.
