ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Tuesday started off on the cloudy and muggy side, but a cold front has swung through our region which means cooler, drier, and more comfortable weather is on the way.

Temperatures will only peak in the upper 70s in the afternoon. After a muggy start, dew points crash into the 50s in the afternoon, which means we will be able to give our A/C a break and open up those windows. Make sure you give the A/C a break today though, because the heat is on through a good chunk of the rest of the week and the humidity will return.

After cloudy skies on Tuesday morning, the sun returns in late in the afternoon. The sun sticks around for Wednesday and most of Thursday, but we will see the temperatures once again skyrocket.

Wednesday will feature mostly sunny skies with highs near 90 and then Thursday will be hot, hazy, and humid. Dew points climb near 70 for Thursday and with highs in the low 90s. We will see heat indices reach the upper 90s to near 100 at times during the afternoon.

A cold front will begin to approach form the northwest and pop up a shower or storm Thursday afternoon, but most of the shower activity will arrive Thursday night and Friday. A stray gusty storm on Thursday afternoon is possible, but widespread severe weather is not expected.

This cold front will bring us scattered showers for Friday and then settle just to our south and bring us an unsettled weekend. A washout this weekend is not expected, but we will likely have to dodge a few showers Saturday and Sunday.

With the stationary boundary within the vicinity of our region, we will also be on the muggy side this weekend.
