ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A ridge of high pressure is now anchored from Newfoundland, Canada all the way down to the Tennessee Valley.

This slow-moving weather system is centered right over Western New York and as a result, promises to produce clear weather for much of the upcoming week.

Tonight expect another clear and very cool night for Rochester. The low temperature will be in the upper 30s. Sunshine will dominate the landscape again tomorrow with the high temperature in the upper 60s. It appears that the clear, sunny weather will last for at least the next 5 to 6 days. So the forecast shows bright sunshine during the daylight hours and clear, starlit skies at night.

As the week progresses it will start to feel a little like summer with above normal temperatures right into next weekend. Plan on temperature to rise into the 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday with readings then exceeding 80 degrees for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. These temperatures are more typical of late June and early July but without the high humidity. There will be a small chance of an afternoon thundershower on Saturday and Sunday. Any significant drop in the temperature is not expected until early next week.

Although not likely, stay tuned to News 10NBC First Alert for updates on the weather.
