First Alert Weather: The pleasant weather will slowly come to an end

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Some might call it award-winning late summer conditions. Today the temperature pushed to near 80° with partial sunshine. And it appears the dry, calm weather will continue for another 24 hours.

This evening will not be as cool as last night with the temperature only falling into the lower 60s. Your Tuesday will be the last day of pleasant weather. Look for the dry conditions to continue with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Once again the warmth will continue with the temperature rising into the upper 70s.

As we head into mid-week a cold front with an associated low-pressure system will be moving into the Great Lakes. This will bring an increasing chance of showers late Tuesday into Wednesday. The probability of precipitation will go from 35% Tuesday night all the way up to 90% by Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday will bring occasional rain and thunder. There is even the chance that the rain will be heavy at times as we head into Wednesday evening. Since we have had very little rainfall over the past week there is very little chance of flooding at this time. However, the News 10 NBC First Alert meteorologists will continue to watch this rain event very closely and we will update you as needed. Even with the expected rainfall, the temperature should still be in the mid-70s for Wednesday. The autumnal equinox, or what is better known as the start of the fall season, will arrive at 3:21 p.m. on Wednesday.

More showers are expected Thursday and Thursday night. You can expect much cooler weather as the temperature will remain in the 60s and 50s for the remainder of the workweek.
