First Alert Weather: Tropical weather set to return to Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —Your First Alert 10 NBC Weather Team is expecting a cool and comfortable night for Western New York. As we used to say “a good night for sleeping.”

It will be clear at times this evening with the temperature slowly falling through the 60s into the upper 50s by morning. There could be some patchy valley fog developing later tonight. Sunday starts with dry weather, but clouds and passing showers will be on the increase by midday. Even the chance of a thunderstorm by late afternoon and evening.

The humidity will start to rise with temperatures into the mid to upper 70s. It appears the probability for occasional rain and a passing thunderstorm will continue to increase Sunday night and into Monday.

Tropical weather is set to return for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as dew points will be back into the low 70s. The atmosphere will be feeling saturated at times as the steamy air will last at least through midweek. As a result, you will need some air conditioning for most of next week.

As this moisture moves into Western New York the threat for thundery downpours will be likely. We expect the greatest chance for any flooding rain will be Sunday night and Monday, but the risk for a thunderstorm will continue for most of the week.
