Update: We fell short of a heat wave, with 90s on Saturday and Sunday, but only hit 89 on Monday. A cold front moving in tonight will put an end to this streak of heat and humidity. Some showers and thundery downpours overnight will end by Tuesday morning, giving way to some gradual afternoon clearing. The biggest difference will be a drop in the temperature, with highs in the mid-70s on Tuesday.

It’ll take another day to really feel a drop in the humidity, with dew points falling back into the 50s by Wednesday. A secondary cold front drops through the area on Thursday, with a brief passing shower or two, followed by another stretch of comfortable air. High pressure builds in, keeping us dry Friday and into the weekend with plenty of sun, and low humidity.

We’ll slowly start to warm up a bit, back into the mid-80s by the early to the middle part of next week, but there are no signs of 90 in the foreseeable future.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — More heat and humidity is in the forecast for Monday as temperatures head towards 90 degrees once again.

A system will approach in the afternoon with showers and local heavy thundery downpours possible at times today. A lot of the day will be rain free but as we have seen lately, when it rains it pours.

Some of the storms may produce heavy rain and localized flooding, but nothing widespread. We need to watch the rain closely into Monday night and Tuesday morning. The cold front will clear early on Tuesday as much cooler weather returns in the afternoon, with temperatures in the 70s and low 80s.

It will still be a little muggy but not as humid. Much drier air arrives for Friday into the weekend with some delightful weather for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Stay tuned to News10NBC for the latest updates on any developing storms and heavy rain today and tomorrow.
