Free at-home tests! covidtests.gov officially opens

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The federal government’s site, covidtests.gov, is officially open after a soft launch on Tuesday.

The goal of the site is to distribute tests to anyone in the country that needs them or wants to be proactive and have some in stock.

When you visit the site, there is a link to order four COVID tests per home. The tests are scheduled to be shipped by the end of January through USPS.

Tests should go out within 7 to 12 days of ordering them.

That part is easy. But News10NBC has in-depth coverage about acquiring additional tests including how to get your insurance coverage to pay for them. Deanna Dewberry breaks that all down for your in her Consumer Alert.
