Free the People Roc holds Celebration of Life for Daniel Prude
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Crowds gathered a little further down Jefferson Avenue than usual for a Celebration of Life for Daniel Prude, who died after the RPD arrested him back in March.
It was the ninth night of gatherings in his honor, but demonstrators didn’t march as they have in nights past. Instead, there was live music, dancing and food.
Some members of Prude’s family, including his cousins, were there.

Prude’s father and brother addressed the crowd.
"How y’all doing?" Joe Cole said. "I’d like to let you all know I really appreciate this here. I’m Daniel’s father."
"Man up, woman up to these people now," Joe Prude said. "These tragedies are going to keep happening."

Prude’s family and protestors also celebrated the police chief’s retirement, and the State Attorney General’s Office gathering a grand jury.
They still want the officers involved in Daniel Prude’s death fired.
