Gates Police: Thieves targeting work vans

GATES, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gates Police say work vans were the target of thieves overnight.

Police say the thieves stole tools from two separate work vans on Lori Lane.

Then at 5:30 a.m. Friday, a Wolcott Avenue homeowner found a person sitting inside their vehicle.

That suspect ran away.

They said thieves also like to target work vans when contractors go into the Gates Home Depot to buy supplies.

Police say the best way to stop crimes of opportunity is to lock your doors.
