Ghost gun and narcotics recovered

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A ghost gun, cocaine and fentanyl were all recovered Wednesday night from a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a vacant house, police say.

According to RPD, around 7:00 p.m. police officers were alerted about the suspicious car parked in the driveway of an unoccupied house on Sullivan Street.

Police investigation led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm ghost gun, as well as a quantity of cocaine and fentanyl.

A ghost gun is a fully functioning firearm that does not possess a serial number and therefore has never been registered, according to law enforcement.

RPD says two males were are not legally able to possess a firearm in New York State were arrested and are at Monroe County Jail.

Daniel Mooney, 35, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (D Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (A Misdemeanor). Mooney is from Batavia.

Also from Batavia, Matthew Oppel, 35, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (D Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (A Misdemeanor).

Mooney and Oppel are excepted to be arraigned in the Rochester City Court Thursday morning.
