ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – The Golisano Children’s Hospital Stroll for Strong Kids and 5k returned in-person at Genesee Valley Park on Saturday for the first time since 2019.
The annual fundraiser raises money to support important programs that serve GCHs kids and loved ones. Thousands of people pledged, walked, or ran to help critical programs.
Adam Bracken, M.D., was the overall winner, while nurse practitioner, Lane DiNoto, was first place among females.
After the race, participants enjoyed games and activities, followed by a march through Genesee Park in honor of children who are, or have been, treated at GCH, and in recognition of the outstanding work of their caregivers.
“Seeing all these people come out really fills you with hope that we, as a community, care about our kids,” said Kim Winter from Pittsford, whose family has been participating in the Stroll for ten years to support their son Craig, who was treated at GCH. “I appreciate that we all have a dedicated children’s hospital so close to home and get the quality of care that every child deserves.”
