Man dies from assault on N. Clinton, RPD needs help identifying two people

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police Department says that an assault victim from April 18 has since died from those injuries. Police are now treating this as a homicide and are looking for the public’s assistance in finding two people who may have information on what happened.

On April 18, 2022, at about 1:55 a.m. the Rochester Police Department responded to the 800 block of North Clinton Avenue and Evergreen St. for the report of a person down and unresponsive.

When they arrived at the scene, an officer found a badly beaten man with serious head injuries.

Rochester resident Gerald Wayne Irvin, 65, was rushed to URMC where he remained in critical condition until he ultimately succumbed to those injuries on May 29, 2022.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined Irvin was the victim of an unprovoked attack while walking down N. Clinton Ave. when he was knocked to the ground and beaten

Rochester police investigators are looking for two people who may have information about an assault that happened on North Clinton Avenue.
