Man sentenced in March 2020 violent home invasion in Irondequoit

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for a violent home invasion that happened in Irondequoit back in March 2020.

Anthony Nesmith was convicted back in July of two counts of first degree burglary, two counts of first degree robbery and four counts of second degree assault for the incident.

He attacked an 82-year-old man in his home and stole his checkbook, and assaulted a 68-year-old woman who walked in on the crime.

Both of them recovered from their injuries, according to prosecutors.

The Monroe County District Attorney said Nesmith is a persistent violent felony offender and he was sentenced to 22 years to life.
