ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The last day of National Guard support at Monroe Community Hospital is on Thursday.

The last sixty guard members from New York State’s COVID emergency plan to address hospital shortages will head home.

National Guard members deployed to healthcare facilities all over the state in December at the height of the omicron variant surge.

They were previously targeting March as a departure date but that was then extended to today due to concerns about staffing woes in nursing homes.
