ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to murder for shooting another man 13 times after a crash on North Clinton Avenue escalated back in October of 2020.

It happened early in the morning on Oct. 31, 2020. David Alvarez, 33, was taken to Rochester General Hospital by a private vehicle but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Steven Berrios-Rivera left the state after the incident and was arrested four months later by the U.S. Marshals Felony Fugitive Task Force in York, Pennsylvania. He was extradited back to Monroe County.

Prosecutors say Berrios-Rivera did not know who Alvarez was before the crash happened, calling his decision to shoot him "a violent and unpredictable choice".

Berrios-Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced on May 24. Prosecutors say they expect that he will be sentenced to 18 years to life in the New York State Department of Corrections.
