BENTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Penn Yan School Bus driver was ticketed after Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies say she crashed her bus into a roadside ditch on Monday morning.

There were 13 students on board at the time, but deputies say none of them were hurt.

It happened just before 8 a.m. on State Route 14A near Rasmussen Road in the Town of Benton.

Deputies say Joann Allison, 62, of Penn Yan was headed north when she attempted to turn onto Rasmussen Road, but couldn’t negotiate the turn. The school bus left the north side of Rasmussen Road, entered the south side of Rasmussen Road, then came to a stop in the ditch, according to deputies.

Allison was taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital after complaining of knee pain. Crews checked over the students, but there were no reported injuries.

Allison was ticketed for failure to keep right, speed not reasonable and prudent and for not wearing a seatbelt.
