PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Pittsford man who admitted to shooting and killing his father was denied a request to reduce his sentence.

Charlie Tan is serving a 20-year sentence in federal prison for gun charges.

His father, Jim Tan was found dead in their Pittsford home back in February of 2015.

The ruling said the court was not presented evidence to support Charlie’s claims of domestic abuse in the home, and states that he had not made a substantial showing of a denial of a constitutional right.

Back in 2020, Charlie filed paperwork in an attempt to vacate his sentence. That request was also denied.
