ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police say a 16-year-old boy has died from his injuries after a shooting on the city’s northwest side early Sunday morning.

Greece Police responded around 1 a.m. to the 100 block of Falmouth Street for the report of a male shot.

Upon arrival, officers found 16-year-old Keon Martin with at least one gunshot in the upper body.

Police say Martin was immediately transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Monday, police said Martin died from his injuries.

During the investigation, officers learned that the teen was shot while he was sitting in a vehicle in the School 34 rear parking lot, which is on Lark Street in Rochester, between Driving Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

Police say a second person in the vehicle drove to Falmouth Drive in Greece after Martin was shot and called 911 from there.

There are no suspects in custody and this time.

A deadly shooting Monday morning was Rochester’s 37th homicide of 2021. With Martin’s death, the city has now seen 38 homicides this year.
