Police identify man killed in shooting on Harris Street and Avenue D

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police identified the man shot dead on Harris Street Monday night.

Police say 28-year-old Jamen Balkum was hanging out with a group of people on Harris when somebody walked up and shot him multiple times.

Police got to the scene just before 5:15 p.m. By then, Balkum showed up at Rochester General Hospital in a private vehicle with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.

This is the third homicide in Rochester in the past three days and the city’s 47th homicide of 2021.
