Police investigating Lyft incident, driver took off with passenger’s child

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Police are investigating after a Lyft driver reportedly drove away with a passenger’s child still inside of the car on Thursday evening.

Police say that at approximately 4:53 p.m., a woman utilized a Lyft to transport her and her child to the Chili Avenue area.

When the woman exited the vehicle, the operator of the Lyft apparently drove away from the area with the child still inside the vehicle.

According to police, it is unknown if this was intentional or unintentional at the time the Lyft driver left.

The child was placed outside of the vehicle shortly after the operator drove away and a call came in for the child being left unattended.

Police are currently following up with Lyft to locate the operator to ascertain what may have occurred. The child is safe and currently with his mother.
