ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce hosted a cannabis conference on Thursday.

Industry experts and some elected officials talked about how New York can position itself to become a leader in the cannabis business.

Chris Alexander, executive director of the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, said the event aimed to educate the public.

“[We] just want to make sure that we’re doing as much as possible to educate the public about the opportunities so that those who are usually left out, left behind. Don’t get left behind when it comes to cannabis in the state of New York.”

Today’s event was for retailers who hope to obtain a distribution license to sell legal cannabis locally.
