Rochester Lilac Festival 2022 returns with 3-week format, outdoor music stage

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Knick knack the Lilac Fest is back! Organizers Tuesday announced the 124th edition of the festival would return in a three-week format for the second straight year.

The event, which usually is 10-days straight, was adjusted this year for COVID safety, and next year will see the first week start on May 6.

The full weekend breakdown is:

  • Week One: May 6-8
  • Week Two: May 12-15
  • Week Three: May 19-22

The hours will be 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. daily.

Format aside, the 2022 edition will see the return of a festival staple: the outdoor music stage. 2021 featured live music, but only during the wine and craft beer tastings. The full lineup of performers will be announced early next year.

Additionally, events like the Lilac Run at Highland Park and the festival’s parade will be back for 2022. The run will return to its usual format. Registration is now live.

Other favorites like the mentioned wine and beer expo will also be back, albeit with an expanded format. This year’s expos featured a restricted capacity. Other events include a pay-what-you-can fundraiser for the Champion Academy.

What was not shared is if Donut Dash or Art in the Park will be returning, but organizers did say they will soon announce additional special event opportunities.
