Rochester Police warn of text scam involving pictures of ‘violent content’

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police want you to be aware of a texting scam involving violent threats against victims.
Police say the setup involves a scammer texting a victim to demand money. Until money is sent, police say the scammer threatens harm against the victim’s family and sends a photograph of violent content to the victim.
Police say to call 911 or 311 if you receive this text.
