ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Local businesses were prepped on how to keep their employees and organization safe from violence during a presentation given by ROCTAC Thursday.

The event was held at the Paychex Auditorium at the Strong Museum. The presentation comes in the midst of increased violence all over the city of Rochester and nationwide.

The ROCTAC task force was created to prevent targeted acts of violence before they happen.

"If you have a case that might cause concern in your community, whatever community that might be, you have a bunch of friends out here willing to help you mitigate that potential threat case. So today was a great opportunity to get in front of 300 people to share what ROCTAC is and what ROCTAC does and the mission behind it," said Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter.

Similar programs are being implemented statewide based on the program started here in Rochester.
