RPD: Another "ghost gun" arrest and separate arrest for bringing gun into nightclub

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester police have arrested another person who they say illegally possessed a ghost gun, a firearm assembled by ordering parts online.

RPD on Friday arrested and charged Jordan Rodriguez, 26, for criminal possession of a weapon. Officers were on High Street just before 2 a.m. when they heard nearby gunshots. While investigating, officers apprehended Rodriguez, who they say had a loaded 9mm ghost gun and fired shots on Mona Street.

On Tuesday, police also arrested a man who they said carried a ghost gun. That man is accused of shooting a 19-year-old in Febuary. News10BC previously reported statistics on ghost gun arrests in 2021 and this year.

Two other people were charged for criminal possession of a weapon in unrelated cases on Friday, RPD said. Officers responded to reports of a man with a handgun at Vinyl nightclub on Alexander Street around midnight. Remy Allen, 27, was charged in connection with that crime and club security was able to safely disarm the suspect, according to police records.

Around 2 a.m., officers responded to calls for shots fired on the 100 block of Campbell Park. RPD says they found 25-year-old Joshua Rodriguez at the scene with a handgun containing a defaced serial number.

The suspects in all three cases will be arraigned Friday at Rochester City Court.
