ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Regional Transit Service will start bringing back 15-minute frequency for its RTS Connect bus routes next month and it’s making some other changes too, including some cancellations.
Back in September, seven routes that normally ran every 15 minutes on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. were changed to only run every 30 minutes.
The changes were made to help the Rochester City School District overcome a school bus driver shortage, which was so severe the district had to postpone its first day of school.
Starting Jan. 3, RTS says Routes 8 E. Main and 16 Genesee will start running every 15 minutes again.
RTS is also updating trip patterns on Routes 3 Joseph, 15 Plymouth, and 21 Dewey, extending Lexington On Demand Zone Hours to 5 a.m. – midnight Monday through Friday, adding a fourth Route 98 Lexington Commuter Trip that will leave the Eastman Hub at 7:45 a.m., adding an On Demand Zone for the Webster Rec Center, adjusting timing for Routes 21 Dewey and 98 Lexington Commuter at Eastman Hub, discontinuing the Route 90 Avon/Rush Commuter route and Removing 2 Route 92 Hilton/Hamlin trips due to low ridership.
RTS also created a video to help customers understand the service changes and has more information on its website.
