ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Samsung will not be building its multi-billion computer chip factory in Western New York, according to multiple reports.

According to MarketWatch, the $17 billion project is expected to set up shop in the Lonestar State, with a location planned for Taylor, Texas. Taylor is a city just north of Austin.

News10NBC reported in January that the company was scouting a large industrial campus in Genesee County. But, in August, filings showed Texas to be the preferred location.

United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer tried to recruit the company to bring new jobs to the county, even giving Samsung officials a tour earlier this year.

A formal announcement is expected by Texas Governor Greg Abbott later Tuesday.
