ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — One of the best things about fall is the vibrant colors, especially paired with a view of the Genesee River.

Genesee RiverWatch and the Genesee Waterways Center is celebrating ROC the Riverway Weekend.

Attendees can explore the river’s history from the pre-Civil War Underground Railround to today’s 460-foot McKeil Spirit cement ship – all from a canoe or kayak right at water level.

Organizers of the event say they still wanted a way to show people how important the river is to the Rochester community while also staying safe as COVID still lingers on.
