ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A non-profit health center in Rochester held a critical fundraising gala on Wednesday night.

The theme was the evening’s gala was "honoring our past…constructing our future."

Saint Joseph’s neighborhood center in the South Wedge provides medical care and mental health services for people who are underinsured in Rochester.

Since the organization doesn’t accept insurance, Saint Joseph’s relies on galas like this, donations, sponsors, and grants.

"One of the patients said to me recently as he was walking out the door. He didn’t know where he’d be without us, and that’s the most profound testament that I can say in terms of what the staff does, as well as the work of the volunteers. It’s absolutely essential to the people we serve and quite simply without us they wouldn’t have anywhere else to go," said Jennifer Sahrle, Executive Director of St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center.
