State-run vaccination site at Dome Arena relocating to downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The mass vaccination site at the Dome Arena in Henrietta will relocate to the SUNY Rochester Educational Opportunity Center in downtown Rochester, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday.

The governor says the move is "part of the ongoing efforts to right-size the state’s mass vaccination site operations and target areas of need."

The last day of operations at the Dome Arena will be Sunday, Aug. 15. The new site, located at 161 Chestnut St., will begin operations on Monday, Aug. 16.

"While we continue to use every tool at our disposal to make the vaccine available to all New Yorkers, we are determining that some of our mass vaccination sites can meet demand using smaller spaces," Cuomo said in a statement. "I urge everyone with an appointment for a second dose to honor that appointment no matter what, and be ready to show up at the new site if necessary."

According to the state, information regarding the second dose will be texted and emailed to the contact information on file for everyone who received their first dose at the Dome Arena.
