Steuben County Sheriff investigating boat and run accident on Keuka Lake

WAYNE, NY (WHEC-TV) – The Steuben County Sheriff is searching for the driver of a boat that hit and injured a swimmer on Keuka Lake.

The victim told deputies he was swimming on his back just before 7 p.m. Thursday close to the eastern shore near Keuka Village when the boat went directly over him and didn’t stop.

Deputies say a witness reported the boat operator was standing and did not appear to have seen the swimmer, who was injured, but treated at the scene and released.

They’re looking for what’s described as a dark-colored pontoon boat being driven by a white male. Anyone with information can reach the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office at 607-622-3911 or email ksclark@steubencountyny.gov.
