ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s graduation day for college seniors at the University of Rochester.

For the first time in 25 years, the U of R celebrated all of its graduates at a university-wide commencement ceremony in Fauver Stadium on the River Campus.

More than four-thousand undergrads and graduate students were recognized.

We asked grads about the ongoing talk about student loan forgiveness.

"It’s hard cause when you graduate you have to worry about paying those loans off and it’s just another worry to have on top of just trying to find a job in the first place it’s that added weight so forgiveness would be something helpful to relieve that weight," graduate Lauren Vanasse said.

Right now, student loan payments are paused until Aug. 31.

President Biden is still considering forgiving at least $10,000 per borrower a campaign promise he made that hasn’t happened yet.

Some Democrats have pushed his administration to go further and forgive $50,000.

The U of R’s School of Nursing diploma ceremony is on Saturday. Rochester Mayor Malik Evans will be the keynote speaker.

Roberts Wesleyan graduates will also walk the stage on Saturday.

Undergraduate and graduate students will take the next step at Voller Athletic Center Arena.
