Update: Investigators with the FBI and local authorities have returned to the same location in Georgetown on Saturday to continue the search related to Brittanee Drexel. We saw several police vehicles go down the dirt, dead-end road. The end of the dead-end road is taped off with police tape, so we are not sure exactly what they are doing but it would seem they might be searching a wooded area.

The location is a residential area. Neighbors say they are not aware of any suspicious activities taking place in the wooded area. One neighbor told us that the only thing back there are abandoned trailer homes.

A search, related to disappearance of Brittanee Drexel, in South Carolina has ended for the day.

The FBI tells News10NBC they will be resuming the search Saturday morning in Georgetown, south of Myrtle Beach.

They will not say what they are looking for or if they found anything of value. But the Drexel family remains hopeful that somewhere in those woods lies some answers to their daughter’s disappearance.

Agents searched until about 7 p.m. Friday with the help of the Myrtle Beach Police Department and the Georgetown County Sheriff’s.

The search is in a wooded area along a dirt road. It was taped off as neighbors came out to see what all the activity was about. We spoke with the attorney for Dawn Drexel, Brittanee’s mother. He told us the FBI contacted her Friday morning to let her know they were conducting a search, looking for remains.

Brittanee went missing in April of 2009 while she was on a spring break trip with friends. She was last seen leaving a Myrtle Beach hotel. Her cell phone last pinged a cell tower in McClellanville.

Later that year, we learned an FBI agent had testified in court that a jailhouse informant had told investigators that Drexel had been kidnapped. The informant claimed that Drexel was held in a "stash house" in McClellanville by a man named Da’Shaun Taylor.

The informant claimed that Taylor killed Drexel and dumped her body in an alligator pit.

The testimony by the FBI came out during a hearing for Taylor.
