ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A male victim was found dead in a vehicle on the 400 block of Jay Street at approximately 7:15 a.m. Saturday. Investigators said they found a man with one gunshot wound to his upper body inside a car along the street. The man was unconscious, and died on the scene just as emergency crews arrived.

Neighbors who live around Jay Street say they’re scared for their own lives, but more so for the kids in the community.

"I don’t feel safe at all, I live right down the street from where this happened, I have siblings, one day they might want to go outside and a shooting will happen and one of them could get hit,” Abdul told us, who wanted to keep his last name anonymous.

"I fear more for the kids, over myself or any other people because kids are out here every day, you never know and kids get hit by stray bullets and get hit by cars it’s just nonsense,” Antoine said, another neighbor who also wanted to keep his last name anonymous.

Police have not released the victim’s name. This is an active investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the police.

A heavy police presence is at the scene following reports of a potential shooting. Nearby roads have been such down as the investigation is underway.
