USDA dispersing crows in Rochester overnight Tuesday into Wednesday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The crows that roost in Rochester every winter are being dispersed Tuesday night.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services Program are firing pyrotechnics, shining lasers, and setting off distress calls.

They’re all non-lethal methods to help get rid of the tens of thousands of crows because of the damage they can cause.

Management efforts downtown are expected to continue through Tuesday night.

Residents can help with the dispersal efforts by calling 311 within the city limits, or 585-428-5990 outside the city limits to report the locations of large groups of crows.
