ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The August 23 primary for the U.S. House and State Senate races is coming up. This is New York State’s second and final primary before the November 8 midterm elections.

To vote in the primary, you must register with a political party by Thursday, August 11. You can register through the Monroe County Board of Elections. If you’re not registered with a party, you can still vote in the midterm elections.

The first state primary in June decided the Democratic and Republican candidates for the NY governor’s race. The second primary was moved from June 28th to August 23 over the need to redraw New York’s congressional and state district maps.
