Webster Police seeking public’s help in string of burglaries

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Webster Police Department is anyone who has video surveillance to please check for possible evidence after a string of burglaries occurred in the late hours of Dec. 17.

According to Webster PD, police officers responded to three, separate forced entry burglaries on Old Way Drive and Springfield Drive between 9:40 and 11 p.m. No one was home at the time and police say a door was forced open to gain entry. Property was stolen from two of the locations, and the third was a vacant property.

Between 11:40 p.m. and 2:20 a.m., police say they responded to several reports of two to three people entering vehicles in the neighborhoods of Five Mile Line Road and Gravel Road between Rt. 104 and Klem Road. During the investigation, police say a stolen vehicle was recovered on Hightower Way. Police determined that a vehicle was stolen from a residence on Five Mile Road Line Road around 3:15 a.m.

Police say at approximately 6:20 a.m., they located and detained a male that may be connected to the crimes. After interviewing the individual, police say he was released pending further investigation.

Law enforcement is asking anyone that has video surveillance in these areas to please check for possible evidence during the timeframes of the crime.
