ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s a special day for some awesome local students, the winners of the Do the Right Thing awards.

Over the past year, a very long school year for these kids, we’ve shared all the stories of how they are making a difference in the community.

Friday, they all got to hang out together for the annual end-of-year celebration at Seabreeze.

Coordinator James McCauley said this is all about thanking kids for their hard work.

"We know that there’s a lot of good people out there doing great things, and the Do the Right Thing award is about celebrating those young people and encouraging others to do the same," McCauley said.

News10NBC is a proud sponsor of Do the Right Thing and morning anchor Brennan Somers helps highlight the winners all year long.

Any child K-12 in Monroe County can be nominated here.
