Winter storm leads to travel advisories
***6:30 p.m. Update *** Monroe County lifts travel advisory
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Greater Rochester area is seeing heavy snow Monday and local governments are issuing travel advisories as a result.
News10NBC’s First Alert Weather Team has issued a Red Alert for Monday. Parts of our viewing area are expected to get more than 18 inches of snow. There are Winter Storm Warnings in effect for all area counties.
Monroe County
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello has issued a travel advisory for Monday—no motor vehicle travel unless it’s necessary and urgent. Heavy snow and high winds are creating hazardous road conditions with white-outs and poor visibility.

Ontario County
Ontario County is advising residents not to travel unnecessarily. It says those who do need to travel should do so with caution and consider the changing weather conditions.
Cayuga County
Sheriff Brian Schenck has lifted the no unnecessary travel advisory.
